SPARK Magazine
SPARK was never meant to stand still. Across three redesigns, its website evolved from a Squarespace publication into a more expressive Cargo experience built to hold a growing archive of writing, photography, fashion, film, and art. As Senior Online Editor, I helped lead that evolution while directing the 15-person team and publishing systems behind it.

The VisionThe current site moves between immediacy and memory: new stories arrive alongside films, graphics, and work pulled forward from the archive. Moving the site to Cargo gave the publication room to behave less like a static collection of pages and embody the spirit of a spark — a live ember of ideas, struck between people and kept burning by everything each person brings to it.

Overview
Book NowMobile required a careful translation of the desktop experience rather than a simple reduction in scale. The existing editorial hierarchy carries into a single-column flow, keeping imagery, headlines, bylines, and body copy in a familiar sequence. Typography, line length, spacing, and image proportions adapt to make longer stories comfortable to read, while accessible category navigation and touch-friendly controls keep movement between sections intuitive.
Film and photography retain enough presence to feel editorial rather than decorative, even within a narrower frame. The result supports quick browsing and slower reading without losing the visual character of the publication.
